In July 2005 Marcel Veens Horticultural Adviser Pty. Ltd. was launched, designed to provide technical and managerial support on all aspects of pomefruit, stonefruit and cherry cultivation. Although its principal clients are professional fruitgrowers in Australia we welcome contracts from abroad.

Marcel Veens was born in Herveld, the Netherlands into a family of third generation orchardists. Eight of his nine brothers are fruitgrowers. He has worked in fruit production in several countries around the world including New Zealand, France, Thailand, and of course the Netherlands. He came to Australia in 1991 and has been general manager and director of Ch. Fueglister (Australia) Pty. Ltd. (1991-2005) The company had 2 farms in South East Queensland that produced apples, pears, peaches, nectarines and lychees.

Insect and disease control options in vegetables and tree crops:-

• planting
• soil management and fertilizing advice
• foliar feed, fertigation
• pest and disease control
• integrated pest and disease control
• organic fruit growing
• summer pruning, winter pruning
• preparing budgets for fruit projects
• provide one-off property visits, on-going visits or on-going consultative advice

Specific advice can be tailored to individual needs (e.g. pest and disease control, soil and fertiliser management). Annual and more frequent property visits and on the spot reviews of technical aspects of production ( eg herbicide program, irrigation) can be arranged.
